MR ARTO

Loneliness finds its way into everyone’s life at some point. For me, it showed up quietly — during long nights working as a porter in Edinburgh, and slow, aimless walks through the city streets in the daytime. I was far from home, drifting through routines, and slowly slipping into a place where alcohol and depression started to feel like company.

But I came through it. Somehow, I found strength in that silence.
Photography became my way of making sense of it all. It helped me release emotions I couldn’t put into words — and gave me a way to show others what loneliness really feels like. My work focuses on everyday moments and ordinary spaces. Places that seem empty at first glance, but carry traces of something deeper: isolation, quiet, and the resilience that grows in difficult times.

I believe we shouldn’t ignore people who are lonely or walk past them without a second thought. One day, we might find ourselves in the same place — hoping someone sees us. My art is a reminder that even in emptiness, even in grey tones, there’s room for growth. For renewal. For connection.
